The 6th 'Colorful Bloom' English Drama Competition Final - the Founding Ceremony of Shakespeare Drama Club of Southeast University was successfully held as schedule on the evening of December 18th. Many English drama lovers from various departments of Southeast University got together for this event.
The founding ceremony of Shakespeare's Drama Club was held in the beginning. Lei Wei, Director of Office of Teaching Affairs, and Chen Meihua, Dean of School of Foreign Languages delivered a speech for the foundation of the new club. The first chief Lin Shuangshuang and Vice-Chief Yin Jiaxin excitedly share d their story in the establishment of the Club and enthusiastically invited students to join them.
Then, the final started. Outstanding students from various departments of Southeast University staged wonderful dramas one by one, which included both such Classic Shakespeare dramas as 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', 'Hamlet', 'The Merchant of Venice' and so on, and also those well-known Chinese dramas like 'Secret Love for the Peach Garden', 'Peacock Flying Southeast”, among others. Their elaborate performances showed audience their ardent love for English and the stage. After their performance, Vice-Dean Zhu Hongqing made comments in English. Finally, 'The Merchant of Venice' with impeccable performance came out on top and became the final winner.
The 'Colorful bloom' English Drama Competition, a traditional cultural activity of School of Foreign languages of Southeast University that has been held for six times so far, has been well received by students of Southeast University. Besides, a large number of students have actively participated in the competition.
After the final, the School will arrange some teams to attend China Shakespeare Festival Competition held at Chinese University of Hong Kong next year. Last year, Southeast University, as the only Jiangsu-based university that took part in the final, achieved excellent results. It is sincerely wished that Southeast University may achieve better results in the coming year.
